Here's Another Great Idea
From Our Team of Experts

In Pond Filter Box and Aerator
This multi-functional filter
can be very useful in combating "green water" (algae) when used in
combination with a good biological filter. It can also be used as a
winter filter to keep the ice open and to absorb ammonia while
dissipating carbon monoxide.
Benefits:
- Adds oxygen which is beneficial to pond life in general.
- By using zeolite and activated carbon as the media the
filter cleans the water and absorbs ammonia. Good idea in both summer
and winter.
- The water flow helps to circulate the pond in summer which
enhances the biological process.
- In winter the filter’s flow and aeration can be
used to keep the ice open and therefore save money by reducing the use
of a deicer.
How to build one:
- One 250gph or better pump
- One Turbo Venturi
- One mesh bag
- One bag of Zeolite
- One bag of activated carbon
- One 4 foot length of 3/8" hose
- One plastic tool box

- Step 1: Put the short piece of hose on the exhaust end of
the pump. Attach the aerator to the end of the hose.
- Step 2: Place the pump
and attached aerator inside the box near one end. Cut a hole
the size of the hose so that the pump is inside the box and aerator is
outside.
- Step 3: Drill a bunch
of holes in the opposite end of the box away from the pump.
Drill these holes in the lid and the end of the box. ¼ inch
holes seem to work best, about 30 to 50 of them.
- Step 4: Put the mesh
bag filled with zeolite and activated carbon in the box and
close lid.
- Step 5: You're done!
Put it in your pond, plug it in and amaze your friends with clear,
sparkling water.
